Where did the name, “Fat Man’s Landing” come from?
My canoe friends and I were on the St. Croix River between Minnesota and Wisconsin. It was a sunny mid-August day. As we paddled around the bend, we noticed a large man wading in the river, wearing only a red swimsuit.
He walked slowly up river with a fishing pole in one hand and a beer in the other. As we drifted closer, we could see that he had a stringer of fish tied to his ankle.
My visions of this man and perhaps what he stood for that day — is what this site inspires to achieve. I dedicate this page to the gentlemen on the river and for all those who can appreciate a day outdoors enjoying what you love most.
